Pritzlaff's High-Quality Meats - Servicing Steakhouses & Fine Restaurants Since 1942
The History of Pritzlaff Wholesale Meats...

Our grandfather, Herb Pritzlaff, opened the family’s first shop on Vilet Street in downtown Milwaukee in 1942—servicing steakhouses and fine restaurants throughout southeastern Wisconsin with high-quality aged beef, pork, and lamb. Grandpa Pritzlaff’s honest, no-nonsense approach to producing fine, quality products earned him a reputation that helped to expand the family business, even during WWII when the United States government imposed tight price controls and moratoriums on beef in order to reserve meat supplies for the troops.  Grandpa’s son, Bruce Sr., came to work with his father as a young man and learned the business from the ground up. This experience served him well when he took over the management of Pritzlaff Meats upon his father’s retirement.

Bruce Pritzlaff expanded the family business by building the existing state-of-the-art facility in New Berlin, and opening a secondary processing facility Bruce and Herb Pritzlaff facility—Riverside Meats, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Originally the Riverside Meats facility processed local cattle, provided freezer locker services and housed a small retail butcher shop.

Today this facility processes Pritzlaff’s specialty prepared and ready-to-eat Riverside Meats label products. These products include pastrami, corned beef, sausage, and other smoked and marinated specialty prepared meats. Bruce’s two sons, Bruce Jr. and Mike, followed in their father’s footsteps working at the two facilities as well as making deliveries.  After high school, Mike went on to college—returning to manage the Riverside Meats facility while Bruce Jr. worked side by side with his father learning how to negotiate with suppliers, cut meat, build customer sales, and manage the back office. Learning every aspect of the business helped prepare both brothers to take the helm from their father in 1990.

Today, Pritzlaff Meats employs over 60 employees, many of whom have been with the company for more than 20 years. For three generations, the Pritzlaff family has served our customers and earned a reputation for high-quality meat at a fair price.
